Designated film scanning
Slides, otherwise known as transparencies or positives as well as negatives can be digitised through a scanning process. The resulting scanned images can have dust, scratches, faded colours and colour casts removed or corrected. The originals may have been stored away collecting dust and not been seen for many years.
35mm negative strips, 120 roll and 5X4 sheet film.
I digitise slide/transparency and negatives from 35mm format up to 5×4 sheet film.
When it comes to 120 roll and 5X4 sheet film the process is a little more involved utilising a wet scanning technique which brings out more detail, larger resolution and colour.
Care and Attention
Having scanned thousands of my own images, I utilise two scanners and a number of differing techniques in order to bring out the best from every image. An Epson V850 Pro and a Plustek Opticfilm have been my go to without fail. Larger resolution files from 120 roll and 5X4 sheet film are obtained from a wet scanning mount used with the Epson Perfection V850.
